INTERIOR DESIGN & project management | Family bathroom

Client Brief: Having a large extension gave Lucy and George the opportunity to re think their existing bathroom, moving it into what was a bedroom, offering more space and natural light. The couple knew they wanted to keep the existing fireplace, so within the design we worked around this feature, and suggested once the project had finished that they purchase a fireplace surround for the original cast iron insert. They had a good idea of layout, so it was up to Spruce Interiors to make some tile and fitting recommendations. Lucy and George were keen to have a luxury feel whilst being warm and inviting, whilst remaining modern and practical.

The Design: Using warm terrazzo tiles and contrasting gold and black fittings gives a really inviting and super high end finish. By colour blocking the tiles to create zones within the room, gave the room 3 different “feelings” when using the bath, shower or vanity unit. We used a contrasting grout colour around the bath and shower, so to blend the colour palette between these spaces and create a narrative within the space. We pulled the bath forward so it was flush with the shower opening to create a ledge next to the bath for plants and candles, so to add to that sense of luxury within the space.

We enjoyed the presentation evenings and seeing the samples laid out was definitely helpful in making selections and understanding the design.
