BRAMCOTE DRIVE
THE BRIEF: My client wanted a light and bright room with ethically sourced furniture, and products that they could can try before they buy.
THE ROOM: Cold and dark, this room hadn’t been decorated in over 15 years so was due some love and attention to make it feel new again. The suspended floor and patio doors were drafty so it was important to my client that these were replaced.
COLOUR: Colour was really important to my client and during the Colour Consultation & Survey, it became apparent what type of colours they were really drawn to. As summer people, their colours were of a mediterranean style, and they loved the colour yellow and blue.
THE DESIGN: With lots of careful planning, and assessing the best way in which to work the space, the furniture plan subdivided the room so to allow space around the furniture. The room was long and narrow so I added vertical lines with the cladding, vertical radiator and floor to ceiling curtains so to make the room feel taller. By colour blocking the far wall, I was able to inject colour and warmth without the room feeling dark. We fitted the floor on an angle so to offset the room, and to draw the eye to the furthest corners of the room to make it feel bigger.

WINDOWS: One major change in the room, which has really made a huge impact to the space, is the bi-fold doors. The patio doors before were wooden and narrow, and set down quite low into the room. My client’s garden was such a delightful space to be in, that it felt really important to connect the two spaces together, so that friends and family can spill out on to the decking on summers evening and enjoy being inside and outside at the same time.
